About

Join us for our fourth annual KID-PARENT (ages 7 to 15) calligraphy event on Sunday, Jan. 4th. This fun event is for the first 30 PAIR OF KID-PARENT PAIR who register and pay the $15 non-refundable registration fee. If interested, we recommend signing up early as seats go quickly.

Parents' role is to assist children and not complete calligraphy on their own. If parents want to create their own, they should register in the adult event.

**This event is not eligible for discounts; purchase must be done separately from group classes and not apply discount codes.

** Only one purchase per person, each participant must create an account on Matrix and purchase seats separately.

This event will run from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
It will be held at 193 Polk Ave, Suite D, (2nd floor) Nashville, TN. Please arrive 10 minutes early.

TLC Japanese instructors Tomi Kawamura and Minae Hayashi will lead the class in a Kakizome workshop.
Kakizome (書き初め・かきぞめ) is traditionally known as the first calligraphy written at the beginning of the new year. It is a way to express one's hopes or aspirations for the new year.

This community event is not limited to Japanese language students!
- For family and friends of students interested in Japanese language and culture are welcome
- For anyone interested in Japanese language and culture (in this case, *no Japanese language background required*)

Participants do not need to bring anything; all materials will be provided, as they are covered by your $15 non-refundable registration fee.
However, if you previously joined a Kakizome event and would like to create a more special piece this time, you could bring wall scrolls (
https://a.co/d/8MJEZfO) or Shikisi board (https://a.co/d/idJYWav), again, these are totally optional.

We hope to see you there!
