** This class will be held at Tennessee Language Center at 193 Polk Ave, Suite D, (2nd floor), Nashville, TN. Objective: Learners in this class gain a solid foundation in the basics of Russian through study of the Cyrillic alphabet and basic sounds of the Russian language. They will be slowly introduced to the alphabet, going over the shape and sound of letters one by one and learning them in the context of vocabulary words. Practice will focus on making simple statements and asking yes/no questions within the topics of greetings/introductions and personal information (e.g., nationality, address, phone number, etc.). Learners will also be introduced to Russian culture and customs through multimedia and cultural interactions.

Objective: Learners in this class will build on skills developed during Beginner 1 and 2. They will review the end of Lesson 1.4 with genitive case endings for describing what city someone is from, make their own визитки (business cards) to introduce themselves professionally. Starting in Lesson 2, they will learn to ask and answer what possessions they have (using accusative personal pronouns and the construction “у меня есть”), as well as what they do not have (“у меня нет” + genitive). Learners will use family vocabulary and possessive pronouns (“Это моя мама” - This is my mom.) to describe what relatives and friends they have. This course continues in the textbook that is used throughout the Beginner level.
