The Simultaneous Interpretation Bootcamp Course is an intensive 4-week training focused specifically on the simultaneous mode of interpretation. The course includes 20 hours of live instruction presented three times per week and additional practice materials for participants to complete outside of live instruction hours. Participants will gain knowledge of theory and techniques for simultaneous interpretation, but the main focus for the course is on the practical application of the skill. Through consistent and targeted practice and personalized evaluation and feedback from the instructor, participants will improve their endurance, accuracy and confidence while interpreting in the simultaneous mode. This course is only suitable to English/Spanish interpreters.
This course is ideal for you if you are a doctor, nurse, or other healthcare professional seeking to better serve your patients through the acquisition of basic Spanish and cultural competency skills. You will gain the necessary linguistic and cultural knowledge to engage in basic medical conversations with your Spanish-speaking patients. This course assumes no prior knowledge of or exposure to Spanish. Health care workers who have been raised in Spanish-speaking households can benefit from this course to consolidate what they learned at home and to learn specific medical vocabulary.
